Don’t get in the crosshairs of the Daily Show!

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

This is great! Okay first of all, to any ASU people on sharenotes.com feel free to defend yourself and reply! Apparently President Obama is speaking at ASU this week and although it’s almost customary for a school to bestow “Honarary Degrees” to people like the president when visiting, ASU has opted not to, stating that his body of work is yet to be determined.

This stirred up a little controversy as you might imagine, I’m sure most of you in the sharenotes community have heard a little about this story by now. The ever sharp Daily Show took on the story and the results of the report or hilarious as usual. Check it out. Again ASU people on sharenotes.com what do you think? I know the Daily Show is using satire to make light of the situation, but do you agree? Disagree? Sound off!

Mobile WiFi Cloud?

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

I was listening to Stern the other day (that’s Howard Stern to you non Sirius listeners) and he was talking about how he and his show’s producer, Gary Delabate are beta testing out some kind of mini personal wifi device. From what I understood, it was a wafer sized object you take along with you that produces a wifi signal that creates a cloud about 10 ft around wherever you are. So you could literally sit anywhere and be online. Anyone know what this is?

C’mon sharenotes.com people, I know someone out there knows something about this. Sounds awesome, I’d buy that today! It’s probably going to be massively expensive and only for the Trumps of the world. I did a quick google search and found some info on a product called a “MiFi” which matches the description, but Howard never said the name.

If this thing ever comes around I’m sending an email petition out to the sharenotes.com people asking them to give out free MiFis instead of free ipods to the users posting up their notes.

The Kindle Ignites My Interest

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Anyone heard about this Kindle?  It’s getting a lot of press lately and it looks pretty cool.  If you have no idea what it is, its basically a digital reader that you can load with whatever you’re reading, including books and digital news media like the NY Times.

The cool thing about sharenotes.com is that it’s not only a good collegiate resource for sharing our notes, but it’s also a community of college students.  And therefore like minded individuals.  I’m wondering if anyone else on sharenotes.com has a kindle yet?  If so how you liking it?

I read online that Princton is beta testing kindles with a few of their classes in place of traditional books and written materials.  So is this thing the end of the printed word?  Is it all hype?  Maybe a little of both?  I know there are some Princton students on sharenotes.com, c’mon speak up and let us know what’s up!  I sure could use a lighter load, my backpack is too heavy!

Which Lakers will show up?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

I’m sitting here uploading notes on sharenotes.com and trying to watch this Laker game and I just have to post something. Maybe one of you can help me understand what is going on here? Yeah I know this post has little do with lecutre notes, but I know there are other sports fans on sharenotes, can someone explain how this team blowing out the Houston Rockets right now, is the same team that played on Sunday?

I’m in California, and I happen to be a big fan (no I’m not on the bandwagon), but this roller coaster ride is starting to take it’s toll on me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy we’re winning (by a lot!) but I just can’t help but wonder who will show up at Game 6? Will it be the decisive Kobe? The confident Bynum? Or will it be the J.V. Squad that showed up on Sunday?

The game’s not over yet, so who knows maybe we’ll blow the lead by the time I’m done loading up this batch of lecture notes. We had better not or I may have to drop out of school and move to another country out of shame! haha. I know other people on sharenotes.com have some thoughts, leave a comment if you happen upon this post, I’ll be up for a while.
